Baby Whisperer – Tracy Hogg

The Baby Whisperer is a nickname that was given to Tracy Hogg, a British nurse. Tracy has made a name for herself as a child “expert” in the US state of California, where she has advised many Hollywood stars and cared for over 5,000 children. Some of her famous clients of hers have been: Jamie Lee Curtis, Calista Flockhart and Jodie Foster. Her pay for 3 weeks as a maternity nurse was over $ 15,000.

The nickname was given to Tracy by a Hollywood film producer after the movie “Horse Whisperer” which was about a purebred trainer who can communicate with animals. Tracy was said to have a gift when it came to communicating with babies and it was noted that she was able to soothe thorny babies and their anxious parents. His message was respect for a child’s individuality and he believed it was important to have an ongoing dialogue with a child.

Tracy’s claim to fame was that she was able to take babies to a routine and get them to sleep through the night after only 3 weeks. Her approach is simple and many critics have said it was really just common sense. She uses acronyms to describe her approaches as EASY (Eat, Activity and Sleep for the baby; the Y stands for time for yourself). She didn’t like sleeping with your baby and was quite political about issues like breasts and formula. Although Tracy was a lactation consultant, I found that some of the information and advice she gave about breastfeeding was inaccurate.

Coming from a family of 9 children, Tracy went on to have two daughters. Tracy died on November 25, 2004 in England of melanoma. She was 44 years old.
